Manure, food waste and other bio-waste materials can be digested, gasified or incinerated. The treatment process selected depends on the type of animal and/or food waste being processed, and the marketability of the by-products produced.

The three basic types of anaerobic digesters are: Covered Lagoon, Complete Mix and Plug Flow. The anaerobic digester is typically used to process cow and swine manure, and produces biogas for on-site generation or resale.

The gasification process converts most wastes that contain carbon into a combination of gases composed primarily of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Gasification can be used with poultry litter and other difficult to process bio-wastes. The fuel by-products can generate electricity, or be sold.

Incineration is a process of burning the waste. Three factors are most important: the incineration time; temperature and turbulence in the combustion chamber. Incinerators process any type of waste, leaving mainly ashes for disposal.

The choice of process needs to be carefully evaluated and matched to the environment and business needs of the client. ECOTS is your expert who can do both.
