  ECOTS has partnered with New Era Lifestyle Systems, LLC to develop a new refrigeration and heating technology that replaces the electric compressor of a heat pump system with a low temperature hot water driven compressor. The New Era system can save up to 80% in energy costs.

As part of the development program, several units are being installed throughout the U.S. to thoroughly test the system prior to commercial sales. These demonstration systems will

operate on various types of heat sources including solar, geothermal, fossil fuel, and the heat captured from the attic of a home.

The first installation was completed in Tucson, Arizona. The unit was installed on a Pascua Yaqui Tribal administrative building, and is connected to a solar array manufactured by Solar Focus, Inc. Additional units are being installed at Brookhaven National Laboratory and sites in Colorado, Michigan and a number of other states.
