ECOTS is assisting Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. and Mitsui & Co with the demonstration
of a 6 kW cogeneration system (Aising-60). This demonstration will identify design changes
needed for successful entry into the U.S. distributed generation market, and will define initial
target markets for a future sales program. There are about two hundred systems
that have been successfully operating in Japan for over 2 years.
The Aisin system is similar to a mechanical fuel cell. It is easily installed, provides
adequate hot water through its cogeneration system, and is highly efficient.
The system features a low maintenance, high performance engine that operates at a
quiet 56dB. It is a baseload 120/240 single phase electric system that
has an overall efficiency of 86% and produces 60-65° C hot water.

The first test unit has been installed in Liverpool, NY at Hooligan's Sports Grille. The system is interconnected with the Niagara-Mohawk grid, and provides both electric and hot water service to the restaurant.
